1921-. Member of the Waffen-SS.
At the age of 21, he was sent to work at Auschwitz, where he served for 2 years. In the camp, he was responsible for bookkeeping: collecting money brought by arriving prisoners, sorting their property and sending it to Berlin.
After the war, he worked at a glass factory. He was a keen philatelist.
In 2015, he was accused of having been an accessory to the murder of at least 300,000 persons. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison. He expressed penitence for his crimes, however, he emphasised that he had only been "a poor little corporal".
