Speaking in the southeastern region of Podkarpackie, Trzaskowski said the move would boost the domestic arms industry and make Poland’s eastern frontier “the safest border in Europe, and maybe the world.”
“New technologies, communication systems, drones, and hydrogen initiatives can be developed here in Podkarpackie, turning the region into an industrial powerhouse,” the Civic Coalition candidate told reporters.
He also called for building shelters in every municipality, referring to the “Tarcza Wschód” (“East Shield”) plan of raising military fortifications along the border.
Trzaskowski, who is running against nationalist-populist candidate Karol Nawrocki and far-right Confederate party candidate Sławomir Mentzen, argued that Poland must remain prepared against Russian aggression, declaring that “President Vladimir Putin has broken his teeth on Ukraine, and we won’t let him win this war.”
