The PKW will accept applications until the end of the day, rejecting any late submissions, while its website currently lists 43 registered committees - 41 approved and two still under review.
According to PKW Chairman Sylwester Marciniak, the commission is verifying whether the required 1,000 signatures were properly submitted for those pending applications.
The next crucial deadline is April 4, when candidates must officially submit their names to be on the ballot. Each submission requires at least 100,000 verified signatures of support, including the 1,000 collected during committee registration. So far, five candidates have been registered, with two more awaiting verification.
Marciniak predicts that around ten candidates will ultimately qualify, as many hopefuls are unlikely to gather the necessary number of signatures. Poland’s first round of the presidential election is scheduled for May 18, 2025.
