This marks the highest number of candidates ever to submit signatures in a Polish presidential race, state news agency PAP reported.

However, six of the hopefuls still need to be have their signatures verified by the electoral authority before they can be officially registered as candidates.

Among the last to meet the April 4 deadline were businessman Paweł Tanajno and journalist Krzysztof Stanowski, both of whom handed in their signatures on Friday.
