Ukraine's Zelensky pays tribute to victims of 2010 plane crash

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has paid tribute to the victims of the 2010 presidential plane crash in Smolensk, western Russia, to mark the 12th anniversary of the catastrophe that sent shockwaves through the whole Polish nation.

"We honor the memory of the victims of the plane crash near #Smolensk, which took the lives of President Lech Kaczyński and Polish elite representatives 12 years ago," he wrote in a Twitter post on Sunday.

"Today we stand in solidarity with Polish friends and allies, who stand with Ukraine against Russian aggression," President Zelensky said.

On Sunday Poland marks the 12th anniversary of a fatal presidential plane crash near Smolensk, western Russia, which killed all 96 on board, including then-Polish President Lech Kaczyński.
