Mateusz Morawiecki will host Stevo Pendarovski in the Polish capital Warsaw, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The two leaders will also explore “the topic of Macedonia’s integration with the European Union,” the spokesman for the Polish government, Piotr Müller, told reporters.
The official added in a statement: “Poland welcomed the news that the European Union in July 2022 began accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania. We are actively supporting the countries of the Western Balkans on their path towards EU membership.”
Müller added that the enlargement of the EU “boosts stability and security, not just in the Western Balkan region, but also in the whole of Europe.”
Poland’s support for Western Balkans
The spokesman for the Polish government said that Poland “supports the development of the Western Balkans also as part of regional cooperation,” including “through an EU initiative focused on the economic growth and reforms in the Western Balkans region.”
Later on Monday, Macedonia’s Pendarovski will hold talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda at Warsaw’s Belweder Palace; the two heads of state are set to discuss cooperation in NATO, Macedonia's European aspirations and war in Ukraine, the PAP news agency reported.
