Six people were killed and dozens injured when a bomb blast rocked a busy pedestrian street in central Istanbul in what Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called a terrorist attack, the Reuters news agency has reported.

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau on Monday offered his "deepest condolences" to Turkey's top diplomat "due to the explosion in Istanbul."
"I wish to express my personal solidarity and mourning to the Turkish authorities and its citizens," Rau said in a tweet.
He added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with you."
In an earlier tweet, Poland's foreign ministry said on Sunday: "We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the victims of today's explosion in Istanbul. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families. We would like to assure the authorities of Turkey and its citizens of our solidarity."
Turkey's government on Monday blamed Kurdish militants for the blast and said police had detained 22 suspects, including the person who had planted the bomb, according to a report by Reuters.
