Szymon Hołownia has regularly appeared at the top of Polish opinion polls as one of the most popular individual politicians - for example in January 2023, he was ranked fifth most popular politician.
Furthermore, he is among a very small group of popular politicians enjoying a small negative electorate. (In a 2021 survey, Hołownia came top of the ranking of "most trustworthy" politicians.)
Hołownia is a centrist figure in the Polish political landscape, being both a devout Catholic and liberal - frequently expressing the urgent need for the Catholic Church to reform, for example. Like other individually popular politicians, he is of the younger generation, dresses smartly and is less aggressive in speaking about other parties and politicians.
However, his party (Poland 2050) has not fared so well in the opinion polls, dropping dramatically in popularity in 2023, an election year. The polling has continued to be unfavourable despite - or perhaps because of? - Poland 2050's alliance with the rural PSL party - "The Third Way".
Like Ukrainian President Zelensky, Hołownia is a former TV personality, but so far he has not demonstrated the former's ability to win elections.
