The new machines, funded by an EU project, bring the total number of such helicopters in the Polish police fleet to seven.
According to spokeswoman Anna Kędzierzawska, the latest additions will assist in aerial surveillance of road traffic.
The choppers are fitted with advanced systems for observation and recording, enhancing the police's ability to monitor traffic day and night, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Superintendent Roman Kuster, Deputy Chief of Police, reflected on the importance of the project in the context of road safety: "Since the beginning of the year, 1,778 people have died on Polish roads. Each of these victims is also a tragedy for their families. This number indicates how extremely important this project is."
The project, valued at nearly PLN 170 million (EUR 39 million, USD 43 million), represents the largest EU-funded initiative undertaken by the Polish police, according to officials.
