Agnieszka Buczyńska, the minister for civil society, has confirmed that her department is looking into the possibility of setting up a new national holiday for the 15th October. The ostensive aim would be to celebrate democracy, marking the elections when 74.38% of the electorate went to the polls.
But many in social media are taking the plans as an attempt to celebrate the passing of the Law and Justice (PiS) led coalition. Pro-PiS outlets have been highly critical - "Hysteria in Donald Tusk's coalition. Minister Agnieszka Buczyńska wants a special holiday to honour the 15th October and the removal of PiS from power":
