The EPP is the largest political group in the European Parliament. Halicki will be one of the 10 newly elected vice-chairs, joining the faction's head, Germany’s Manfred Weber, who was also re-elected for a fourth term.

Halicki received the most support among the candidates, giving him the strongest mandate, according to the Polish delegation. Each vice-president will be assigned a specific portfolio of issues, which will be distributed later and may cover foreign affairs, internal affairs, budget, or economy.

"I take this choice as a tribute to the Polish delegation and a recognition of Poles who, in the European elections, confirmed that they want a strong, democratic, and European Poland," Halicki commented.

He emphasized that the Polish delegation aims to fight populism and nationalism, support Ukraine, work for EU enlargement, and promote solidarity in Europe. "We will make sure that European solutions are favorable to Poland," Halicki added.

In addition to electing its presidium, the EPP also officially endorsed Malta’s Roberta Metsola as its candidate for the presidency of the European Parliament.

The EPP faction, now holding 190 seats, remains the largest political force in the EP. Germany continues to have the strongest national representation within the EPP group with 29 seats, followed by the Polish delegation with 23 seats (21 for KO and two for PSL), surpassing the Spanish delegation by one seat in the new EP term.
