The draft amendment to the Penal Code, rejected on July 12, aimed to decriminalize assistance in abortion and termination of pregnancy up to the 12th week.

The rejection of the bill caused outrage among supporters of liberalizing abortion laws, particularly within the October 15 coalition, some of whose PSL members voted against the bill.

Demonstrations also took place in other cities, such as Olsztyn, Szczecin, Kraków, and Poznań.

Organizers emphasized that the majority of coalition and PSL voters support decriminalizing abortion, despite the bill's rejection.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk did not participate in the protest due to other commitments, while Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk from the Left announced her participation.
