The leading theory in the investigation, which has been conducted by the Mazowiecki Department for Organized Crime and Corruption since late July, is that the fire on May 12 was orchestrated by Russian special services.
The next phase of the investigation is set to begin after the long weekend in Poland, with six investigative teams scheduled to start working at the site of the ruins on Monday, August 19.

Przemysław Nowak, spokesperson for the National Prosecutor's Office, stated that the activities will be carried out in areas that no longer pose a threat to human health and safety.
Officers from the Warsaw Police Headquarters are tasked with securing the site, inspecting the remaining goods and other items in the presence of victims and their legal representatives.
Earlier, "Rzeczpospolita" reported that other findings indicate Russians offered individuals, through Russian-language Telegram channels, between 10,000 EUR and 15,000 EUR to carry out arson in major Polish cities.
The fire at the market halls on Marywilska Street 44 in Warsaw occurred on May 12, 2024. The facility, which housed around 1,400 stalls, was completely destroyed due to the rapid spread of the flames.
