Set to last through the end of 2024, the operation will support local governments in their efforts, though the Polish Ministry of Defense has assured that military assistance will be extended if needed.
Over 26,000 soldiers, including units from the Territorial Defense Forces, engineering, and logistics divisions, will be tasked with fortifying and repairing damaged flood barriers, disinfecting and drying out flooded buildings, and addressing other flood-related challenges.
Additionally, 500 military police officers will support local law enforcement in preventing looting and theft.
In Głuchołazy, a temporary bridge has already been constructed as part of the "Phoenix" operation.
Meanwhile, in Nysa, efforts are underway to set up a field hospital to replace a flooded medical facility, providing outpatient care and access to specialized diagnostic services, such as ultrasound and CT scans.
The operation has access to military resources, including rescue helicopters (Mi-17 and Mi-2) and multipurpose Black Hawk helicopters.
