Latest opinion poll: leading parties neck and neck

A new political opinion poll has been carried out by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita. While the prime minister's popularity is on the rise, his party's support is almost identical to that of the main opposition party.

The latest political opinion poll has been carried out by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita. The head of the IBRiS agency told Rzeczpospolita that while "public opinion highly rates the government's flood response" this took place in a "separate space" and has not led to an increase in the Civic Coalition's support.

While his party's support is almost unchanged, the prime minister Donald Tusk's individual popularity is on the rise.

The results were as follows:

  • The leading member of the ruling coalition, the middle-of-the-road Civic Coalition (KO) - 33.1%
  • The leading opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS) - 32.9%
  • The centre-right coalition partner Third Way - 10.1%
  • The hard-right Confederation - 9.1 %
  • The Left (the third ruling coalition partner) - 7.4%

This is a small success for the ruling coalition. If the election were held today and the results reflected the opinion poll, the coalition could reform. The results represent progress since the 2024 general election.

However, given the extent of pro-PiS state media propaganda under the previous government, the current coalition will have expected their support to have increased more - simply thanks to the absence of a barrage of daily criticism from "neutral" media combined with a sense that "normality has returned" to public life. Public opinion does not seem to be confirming that expectation.
