After evading authorities for 10 months, the man, identified only as Jarosław B., was finally apprehended in the central Polish city of Łódź and will now serve a 15-month prison sentence, state news agency PAP reported.
The fugitive was part of a group convicted of espionage against Polish critical infrastructure in 2023, an operation that posed a serious threat to national security.
The group monitored military sites and seaports, and even planned to derail a train before their detention thwarted the plot.
The 16-member group was tried and sentenced by Polish courts.
Following the court rulings, three members of the group were released from custody, but they went into hiding once their sentences were finalized. Two of them were located and detained earlier this year, while Jarosław B. remained at large until now.
His apprehension by a specialized fugitive task force within the Regional Police Headquarters in Lublin, eastern Poland, brings the case to a close, according to officials.
