An 800 mm diameter water pipe burst, flooding Bytomska Street and making it impassable. The incident occurred on the networks of the Upper Silesian Waterworks Company (Górnośląskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów, GPW).

"The failure affects water supplies in the areas of Bytom, Piekary Śląskie, Radzionków, Bobrowniki, Świętochłowice, Chorzów, the northern part of Ruda Śląska, and Świerklaniec," GPW said in a statement.

Piekary Śląskie is the hardest hit, with residents from Kozłowa Góra to Szarlej without water. The rupture has also caused major traffic issues, particularly near the McDonald's restaurant on Bytomska Street. Entry into the city from Bytom via the Julian Mine Roundabout, Solidarności Street, and the Andaluzja Mine Roundabout is affected, according to the Municipal Water and Sewage Company (MPWiK) in Piekary Śląskie.

Police have closed Bytomska Street due to flooding and are directing traffic to a detour via Karola Miarki Street. Water tankers are circulating in the city to provide residents with water, which is safe for consumption after boiling, MPWiK added.
