Polish Olympians and winners of international academic competitions gathered with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Education Minister Barbara Nowacka on December 9th for a special ceremony honoring their achievements.
Minister Nowacka expressed pride in the students' remarkable international successes, describing them as Poland's brightest young talents dedicated to personal growth and education.
Prime Minister Tusk shared his admiration for their accomplishments, recalling his own experience as a school math Olympian. He emphasized the government’s responsibility to create conditions enabling these talented individuals to thrive and contribute to their homeland.
PM Tusk highlighted the importance of retaining top talent in Poland by ensuring a high quality of life and opportunities comparable to global standards. He also recognized educators' vital role in shaping future leaders, noting the challenges teachers face amid rapid technological and societal changes.
Concluding the event, Tusk urged all Poles to view talented students as a national treasure and stressed the importance of investing in their potential, as their achievements are key to Poland's future.
The meeting with Donald Tusk and Barbara Nowacka was attended by the laureates who, in 2024, won a total of 72 individual medals and 5 team medals in fields such as mathematics, computer science, biology, and astronomy, as well as their scientific mentors and representatives of educational institutions.
