The District Court in Warsaw announced on its website that a European Arrest Warrant for Marcin Romanowski was issued on December 19, 2024.

This decision follows the prosecution's request for the EAW, which came after the prosecutor initiated a manhunt for Romanowski on December 12 using a wanted notice.

The National Prosecutor's Office charges Marcin Romanowski, former Deputy Minister of Justice, with 11 crimes, including participation in a criminal organization and manipulating competitions for grants from the Justice Fund.

The politician is also accused of instructing others to correct bids before submission and allowing grants to be awarded to ineligible entities.

Additionally, he is charged with embezzling over 107 million PLN (25.02 million EUR or 26.26 million USD) and attempting to embezzle another 58 million PLN (13.56 million EUR or 14.24 million USD).
