On Monday, January 27, at around 3:00 AM, 29 workers were underground when a tremor occurred in the Marcel coal mine.

One worker died at the scene, 11 were hospitalized, and the remaining miners were safely brought to the surface.

Four miners suffered serious injuries, including facial and spinal fractures.
The tremor occurred about 800 meters underground, and methane levels increased afterward, posing a continued risk.

Despite the heightened danger, no fire broke out, and rescue teams were sent down to manage the situation.

This fatality marks the fourth death in Poland's coal mining industry this year, following a methane explosion at the Szczygłowice mine earlier in January.
