The commission "will investigate all cases of abuse of power against democratic activists between 2016 and 2023," when Poland was governed by the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party.

"The work on establishing it has been ongoing for several weeks and is now being finalized," Dobrzyński announced via social media.

"Every instance of power abuse for political purposes will be examined and held accountable, especially in cases where police, security services, and prosecutors failed to deliver results and investigations were closed. The commission will include representatives of civil society and lawyers representing the victims," the spokesperson explained.

This initiative is a joint effort of the Polish Ministry of Justice, led by Attorney General Adam Bodnar, and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, headed by Minister Tomasz Siemoniak (Civic Platform, part of the Civic Coalition).
