"We should strengthen ties within Europe and distance ourselves from Donald Trump," says former Polish President Lech Wałęsa. He argues that Europe's security depends on building strong alliances among EU nations.
Wałęsa: Europe must focus on its own alliances
When asked about U.S.-Polish relations, Wałęsa also addressed recent controversy involving Elon Musk:
"Let’s focus on our own goals and ignore Musk. I don’t care about him. I’d disregard him entirely - he’s someone who doesn’t matter."
Diplomatic tensions and Europe's future
The article highlighted the Trump administration’s cold stance toward Europe, which has also affected Poland. It referenced a recent clash between Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and Musk after the billionaire threatened to cut off Ukraine’s satellite internet.
Sikorski pointed out that Poland funds the Starlink system with $50 million, to which Musk responded with a personal attack. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio then suggested Sikorski should be grateful for American support.
Wałęsa downplayed the dispute, urging Poland to strengthen European alliances rather than engaging in unnecessary conflicts.
