Polish PM urges president to approve emergency asylum restrictions

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Thursday called on President Andrzej Duda to promptly sign a bill limiting the right to asylum, calling it a crucial tool for securing Poland’s border.

The legislation would allow the government to temporarily suspend asylum applications in cases of internal security threats.

Donald Tusk emphasized that once the president signs the bill, the government will immediately enact the necessary regulations.

The head of Polish government also pointed to increasing pressure on the Belarusian border due to actions by Alexander Lukashenko and announced a personal visit to assess recent infrastructure investments.

According to Tusk, Polish security forces are fully mobilized and ready to implement the new measures.
