A recent study by NGO GrowSpace found that more than half of the 350 surveyed schools have banned students from using smartphones during classes and breaks, with teachers reporting improved concentration in class.

“This is about maintaining focus, ensuring an effective learning process, and fostering socialization, which should primarily take place in person among peers," said Dominik Kuc of GrowSpace.

"However, regulations should go further by introducing digital hygiene and education as part of a new school subject called health education," he added.

The education ministry aims to make digital hygiene part of the new health education course set to launch in September.

Available as an optional course, GrowSpace advocates for making health education mandatory.
