The day commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is one of the most reflective dates in the Christian calendar.

While not a public holiday in Poland, many people attended special church services and took part in the Stations of the Cross—a symbolic procession reenacting Christ's final journey.

In towns and villages, the faithful gathered for outdoor processions, often carrying wooden crosses and singing hymns.

Churches remained stripped of decorations, reflecting the somber mood of the day.

Good Friday is part of the Easter Triduum, the three-day period leading up to Easter Sunday, the most significant feast in the Catholic Church.

For many Poles, it is a day of fasting, prayer and quiet reflection in preparation for Easter, which is widely celebrated with family gatherings and traditional foods.
