A number of emergencies were reported after strong winds wreaked havoc in the country's eastern Lubelskie and Podkarpackie provinces and the central region of Mazowieckie, Karol Kierzkowski, a spokesman for the State Fire Service, said on Saturday.
Firefighters were called to help pump water out of flooded buildings, secure torn-off roofs and remove fallen trees from roads, according to officials.
In Pawłosiów, near Poland's border with Ukraine, about 150 houses were flooded in the wake of heavy rainfall, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Floodwaters also submerged the streets of the southeastern town of Jarosław, officials told reporters.
More than 100 territorial defence troops and military vehicles were deployed to these sites to help clean up after the flash flooding, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
The Government Centre for Security (RCB) on Friday sent out millions of text messages alerting people in various provinces over intense rainfall and possible storms causing a risk of local flooding and power outages.
Officials have advised people to stay away from open spaces and never shelter under a tree during a storm.
There were no reports of injuries in the aftermath of the extreme weather.
