A historical picnic, a grand concert of leading Polish music stars, a special artistic installation with giant heads of Polish kings, a 'thousand drones show' lighting up the sky, a flyover of Polish F-16 fighters - and many more attractions are in store for the visitors.
"On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Warsaw will become the center of nationwide celebrations of the millennium of Bolesław the Brave's coronation as the first king of Poland [...] A unique historical and cultural event will take place, with admission completely free. A day full of emotions, education, fun and national pride awaits us!"
- the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, who assumed honorary patronage of the event, invited.
Morning opening of an installation on the Vistula River, with eight-meter heads of 28 crowned kings of Poland, inspired by Jan Matejko's "Post of Polish Kings and Princes", inaugurated Sunday's celebrations.
At 02:00 PM local time, the historical and educational 'Millennium Picnic' opened, spread along Warsaw's Tadeusz Kahl Square and Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie. It is split into three zones - medieval, contemporary and future.
At 02:30 PM, a flyover of F-16 fighter jets prepared by the Polish Armed Forces followed. An exhibition of Polish military equipment will be available throughout the picnic - and the soldiers present at the venue will talk about, among other things, the equipment at the disposal of the country's army.
That's not all though, far from it! At 06:30 PM, a historical parade will begin, which will pass over the Świętokrzyski Bridge onto the National Stadium grounds.
"A symbolic journey through 1,000 years of Polish history. The procession will be led by the 1st Representative Company of the Polish Army and the Polish Army Orchestra. Before the parade, a ship with the Warsaw Mermaid will sail down the Vistula River - an artistic symbol connecting eras. Along the left bank, images of 44 Polish rulers will light up one after another"
- the organizers announced.
The culmination of the program will be the final concert on the grounds of the 'PGE Narodowy' Stadium, starting at 08:00 PM. Some top names of the Polish popular music scene will perform, including Kayah, Doda, Organek, Oskar Cyms, Król, Bovska, Smolasty, Vix.N, Margaret, Lanberry, Bryska, Mery Spolsky, Stanisław Soyka and many others.
An artistic staging of the "Living Gniezno Doors" with the participation of 80 actors and the Art Color Ballet group will also be performed on the National Stadium grounds. Another spectacular part of the event will be the presentation of Poland's history using an innovative form of image projection on water screens, which creates a hologram suspended in space.
Finally, the Sunday celebrations will end with the largest drone show in Polish history, in the course of which 1,000 drones will light up the sky over the Vistula river. "Full of symbolism, emotion and light, this will become an unforgettable punchline of this special day" - the Chancellery of the Prime Minister announced.
