The Ministry of Digital Affairs reported that its disinformation analysis task force at the NASK cybersecurity research agency has recorded a spike in election-related falsehoods, including fake claims about polling hours, voting procedures and candidate profiles.

One campaign, "likely conducted by Russian actors in English-language media," targeted overseas audiences, officials said.

Independent researchers at Alliance4Europe uncovered a "Doppelganger operation" on the X social platform that recycled legitimate Polish news headlines to bolster nearly 300 manipulated posts from March 4 to April 4.

"These tactics exploit old articles and screenshots, expecting users not to check the full context," said Aleksandra Wójtowicz of the Polish Institute of International Affairs.

Both NASK and Alliance4Europe warn these campaigns aim to polarize society, discredit opponents with fabricated allegations, and advance Kremlin-friendly narratives.

Conspiracy theories suggesting ineligible voting and claims of EU meddling are among the themes flagged.

Authorities are urging social platforms to tighten moderation and encouraging voters to rely on official election sources.

"We must protect the integrity of our democratic process," said the digital affairs ministry's Monika Gembicka, pledging ongoing monitoring and exposure of disinformation efforts.
