Andriy Sybiha, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, replied expressing his gratitude for the wishes and for Poland's unwavering support.

Ukrainian Independence Day celebrates the country's Act of Independence proclamation - which took place on August 24, 1991. This is the fourth time Ukrainians commemorate it amidst a full-scale unlawful Russian aggression. Thousands of Russian missiles, drones, and bombs have fallen on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities and villages over the past three years - and Moscow's troops committed countless atrocities and war crimes in the process.

Many Ukrainian families have lost loved ones in shelling and on the front. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are taking up arms to defend their homeland's independence. According to the latest sociological research, 73% of Ukrainians believe in Ukraine's victory in the war with Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an Independence Day address on Sunday. He emphasized that although victory in the war with Russia has not yet come, Ukraine is certainly not losing. "We have won our independence. We are not victims - we are warriors. Ukraine does not ask for - it offers. Alliance and partnership. The best army in Europe. Advanced defense technologies. Experience of resilience..." - President Zelenskyy said.

Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations will also take place in Warsaw on Sunday. They are intended to show solidarity between Poles and Ukrainians. During the celebrations, Ukrainians living in Poland will raise money for a Polish hospice. "We want to thank Poles for their support" - Ukrainian journalist Zhenya Klimakin, co-organizer of the event, told Polish Radio.

At 5:00 PM in Warsaw's Castle Square, the "Stand With Ukraine Awards" gala will begin, recognizing Poles who support Ukraine. The program includes, among other things, thanks to soldiers, tributes to the fallen, concerts, and artistic performances. The event is held under the patronage of the Ukrainian Embassy, the Mayor of Warsaw, and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
