Tusk wrote on social media that Nawrocki “stubbornly refuses to sign applications for young special service officers to receive their first officer rank, as well as awards for heroes fighting foreign sabotage.”
The prime minister added: "This is not just an attempt to take over the government’s authority. It is an act of sabotage against the security of the state.”
Defence minister presses president
Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said he does not understand Nawrocki’s refusal and will continue to push “until successful” for the promotions to be signed.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that young officers should not be punished for political disagreements, noting their commitment to serving the state.
Nawrocki’s spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, said the requests for promotions were returned without consideration.
“There is no negative decision, simply no decision at all,” he said, adding that the president expects senior security officials to meet with him.
