Poland's Chief of the General Staff, Gen. Wiesław Kukuła, held a call on Thursday with Gen. Christopher Donahue, Commanding General of US Army Europe and Africa and NATO's Allied Land Command.

According to Poland's General Staff, the conversation covered security along NATO's eastern flank, deep-strike capabilities and a possible expanded US military presence in Poland.

Donahue, who has held his current role since 2024, visited Warsaw in late February, where he met with both Kukuła and the US ambassador to Poland.

The talks come amid reports by The Wall Street Journal that the Trump administration is weighing troop withdrawals from NATO allies deemed insufficiently supportive during the conflict with Iran, with eastern-flank countries, including Poland, identified as potential destinations for redeployed forces.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 American troops are currently stationed in Poland.
