Paulina Hennig-Kloska, the party’s leader and Poland’s Minister of Climate and Environment, announced the new political manifesto “Człowiek w Centrum” (Man at the Centre), which is based on five pillars: economy, quality of life, infrastructure, environment and energy, and an efficient state.
Hennig-Kloska also said that Poland is the fastest-growing EU country and is growing three times faster than the eurozone. She highlighted the energy transition as one of the main growth factors.
The party’s secretary general, Rafał Kasprzyk, proposed limiting MPs and senators to three consecutive terms. He argues that 12 years is sufficient to gain experience and conduct projects, while opening the doors for next generations.
The party also proposes a three-bracket income tax system: 12 percent up to PLN 120,000 (EUR 27,600), 22 percent between PLN 120,000 and PLN 180,000 (EUR 41,000), and 32 percent above PLN 180,000.
Aleksandra Leo, the party’s spokesperson, presented the party’s “Pierwszy Kapitał” (First Capital) scheme, which would give people under 30 a PLN 5,000 (EUR 1,150) state bonus if they save PLN 20,000 (EUR 4,600) a year. After four years, the party says this could leave them with PLN 120,000 (EUR 27,600) in capital.
The party also proposes a suspensive presidential veto that would delay the entry into force of legislation for 30 days, or 60 days in the case of more complex acts, giving parliament time to reconsider provisions challenged by the president.
Other proposals include tax exemptions for working pensioners earning up to PLN 5,000 (EUR 1,150) a month and a higher revenue threshold for lower social security contributions for microbusinesses.
Unia Centrum was formed in July through the merger of the Union of European Democrats (UED) and the political group around the Centrum Polska association.
