Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, who has been named as the pick for head of government by Poland’s largest opposition bloc, the Civic Coalition, said on Tuesday that the upcoming election was about important choices for Polish women.
“These elections are a fight for values, respect and rights, including women's rights," she said.
She added: "This is a time when all of us, all Polish women, need to decide what kind of Poland we want, and persuade others to vote.”
Poles will head to the ballot box to vote in parliamentary elections on Sunday. They will elect 460 MPs and 100 senators for a four-year term.
Seventy-seven percent of respondents to a recent survey said they intended to vote in the upcoming ballot.
However, the actual turnout in parliamentary elections in the country has rarely exceeded 50 percent during the last 30 years.
