A 52-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter died at the scene in the ski resort of Bukowina Tatrzańska, near the border with Slovakia, amid an outbreak of extreme weather on Monday.
The woman’s other daughter, aged 21, died later in a hospital from severe injuries, according to Polish news outlets.
A fourth victim, a 16-year-old boy related to the three, suffered less serious injuries to the head and shoulder and was undergoing treatment in a hospital in the nearby mountain resort of Zakopane.
The husband of the 52-year-old woman and father of her two daughters killed in the tragedy was also in a hospital in a state of shock, Poland’s PAP news agency reported on Tuesday.
The incident occurred after fierce winds of up to 105 kilometres per hour hit Poland’s southern Tatra Mountains at the start of this week, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
