To compare, Belgium has 829 deaths per million residents, according to new statistics released by the Polish health ministry, while Britain has 598 and Spain reports 580.
The list of countries severely hit by the coronavirus also includes Italy, with 562 deaths per million population, France with 448, and Sweden with 465, according to the Polish health ministry.
The Czech Republic has the same proportion of coronavirus deaths as Poland, at 31 per million residents, while Lithuania has 26, one more than Croatia, and nine more than Greece, the new data found.
By Tuesday evening, Poland had reported a total of 27,560 coronavirus infections and 1,183 deaths from the COVID-19 respiratory disease.
