Police said that activists who refused to move from their positions on Świętokrzyska street in the Polish capital were being moved to the side of the road.

Extinction Rebellion Poland said on social media it was staging an act of civil disobedience.

In a statement published on an Extinction Rebellion website, environmentalists appealed to Polish MPs, senators, government ministers and the president to declare a state of “climate emergency.”

"We are outraged by the passivity of politicians in the face of an impending climate disaster," they said.
