Of the new cases confirmed on Tuesday, 1,766 were in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.
Meanwhile, 1,666 new infections were reported in the densely populated southern coal mining region of Silesia.
The southwestern province of Dolnośląskie, which is home to the major city of Wrocław, had the third-highest number of new infections confirmed by officials on Tuesday, at 1,276.
The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 428 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 216 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.
On Monday, Poland confirmed 61 deaths and 12,013 new coronavirus infections nationwide, compared with 245 deaths and 21,703 fresh cases a day earlier.
On Thursday, April 8, the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.
On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.
Poland’s second-highest number of daily cases was when 35,143 new coronavirus infections were confirmed nationwide on March 26.

34,619 in hospitals, 367,577 quarantined
The health ministry announced on Tuesday morning that 34,619 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 3,513 of them on ventilators, with a further 367,577 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.
Meanwhile, 2,219,655 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, including 21,873 over the last 24 hours, the health ministry also said.
