Of the new cases confirmed on Sunday, 1,085 were in the densely populated southern coal-mining region of Silesia.
Meanwhile, 996 new infections were reported in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.
The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 144 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 49 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.
On Saturday , Poland reported 9505 new infections and 513 more deaths.
On April 8, the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.
On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.
Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.
27,336 in hospitals, 216,922 quarantined
The health ministry announced on Sunday morning that 27,336 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 3,185 of them on ventilators, with a further 216,922 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.
Meanwhile, 2,439,412 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, the health ministry also said.
