Of the new cases confirmed on Wednesday, 1,531 were in the densely populated southern coal-mining region of Silesia.
Meanwhile, 1,094 new infections were reported in the western province of Wielkopolskie, which is home to the major city of Poznań.
The central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw, had the third-highest number of new infections confirmed by officials on Wednesday, at 1,087.
The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 457 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 179 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.
On Tuesday, Poland confirmed 460 deaths and 5,709 new coronavirus infections nationwide, compared with 22 deaths and 3,451 fresh cases a day earlier.
On April 8, the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.
On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.
Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.
25,591 in hospitals, 187,087 quarantined
The health ministry announced on Wednesday morning that 25,591 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 2,945 of them on ventilators, with a further 187,087 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.
Meanwhile, 2,473,974 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, including 6,938 over the last 24 hours, the health ministry also said.
