Poland will make a decision later this month on whether to bring in tougher COVID restrictions for people who have not been vaccinated against the virus, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has suggested.

He was responding to a question at a press conference on Tuesday during which he was asked if, in the event of another wave of infections in the autumn, different restrictions would be introduced for those who have been inoculated and those who have not.

"We are waiting until the second half of July to make final decisions in this regard," Morawiecki said.

He added: “We are drawing up a list of hypothetical orders, bans and recommendations. Their implementation will depend… in particular on the level of vaccinations" in Poland.

Over 14 million people in the country of some 38 million have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, officials announced on Tuesday.
