Kaczyński, who heads Poland's ruling conservatives Law and Justice (PiS), delivered the news to a meeting of party MPs, citing the need to focus on party leadership, according to the news agency.
Kaczyński is not prime minister despite leading the biggest party in Poland’s ruling conservative coalition.
He entered the government in October last year, becoming deputy prime minister responsible for national security and defence.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is expected to reshuffle his Cabinet next week.
