Zelensky’s visit was announced by Marcin Przydacz, top foreign-policy aide to the Polish President Andrzej Duda, on Monday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Przydacz told private radio broadcaster RMF FM: “We are expecting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to make an official visit to Poland on Wednesday, April 5.”

The aide added that Zelensky would hold talks with Duda, before “meeting with Polish people, as well as with Ukrainians staying in our country, on Wednesday afternoon at Warsaw’s Royal Castle.”

Security issues, Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation, Ukrainian grain

Przydacz said that the two presidents “will hold a long and broad discussion, focusing not only on security issues, but also economic cooperation, historical issues and the policy on historical issues, as well as agricultural matters and the transport of Ukrainian grain through Poland.”

He stressed: “We want the agenda to be as comprehensive as possible.”

Przydacz revealed that Zelensky would address the Polish people at Warsaw’s Royal Castle on Wednesday afternoon.

The official told RMF FM: “President Zelensky wants to say a few words to the Polish people regarding what has happened over the past year, such as how Poles have been helping Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees, both at the border and by welcoming them to their homes.”

Przydacz added: “Everyone will be able to come to the Castle Square on Wednesday afternoon and see the presidents, depending on attendance, either on a big screen or maybe even closer.”

‘A special visit’

The Polish presidential aide stressed: “This visit will be special. I can’t give any details at this point, but we are preparing several aspects that will give a special character to this visit.”

Przydacz also noted that it would be Zelensky’s first state visit to Poland since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

In the meantime, Ukraine’s president only made secret, working visits to Poland en route to or from other countries, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, Polish Cabinet Minister Michał Dworczyk said in a tweet on Monday that during his trip to Poland, Zelensky would also hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Wednesday afternoon.

The two leaders are set to discuss the situation in Ukraine and on the front, the security situation in the region, as well as bilateral matters, "including the issue of border crissings and Ukrainian grain," among other topics, Dworczyk told the PAP news agency.

Monday is day 404 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
