Poland admits over 28,000 new arrivals from Ukraine

28,500 people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine over the past 24 hours, Polish border guards said on Sunday.

Since February last year when Russia invaded  its neighbour, almost 15.4 million people have crossed into Poland from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, over 13.6 million people have left Poland for Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion, including over 27,000 on Saturday.

It is estimated that Poland  is currently home to around 1.5 million Ukrainians after many who had fled Russia's invasion moved on to other countries or decided to return to Ukraine.

Sunday is day 564 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
