Poland admits 27,700 new arrivals from Ukraine: officials

Around 27,700 people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine over the past 24 hours, Polish border guards said on Sunday.

Since February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded its neighbour, more than 15,799 million people have crossed into Poland from Ukraineaccording to the Polish Border Guard agency.

Meanwhile, 14,022 million people have left Poland for Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion, the agency said.

On Saturday, around 26,800 people crossed from Poland into Ukraine, it also reported.

Poland's President Andrzej Duda told public broadcaster Polish Radio earlier this year that the country was home to an estimated 3 million Ukrainians, including those who arrived before the war.

In March last year, Poland enacted a measure to offer wide-ranging support to Ukrainians escaping the Russian invasion of their country.

The measure grants them residence rights and ensures access to educationhealthcare and social benefits.

Sunday is day 578 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
