After the talks, the Polish foreign ministry said that the meeting focused on "the resumption of the operation of the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt and the facilitation of the evacuation of Polish nationals through this crossing point."

It added in a statement that, during the talks with the ambassadors, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński "stressed that Poland demands that the Rafah border crossing be reopened so as to enable immediate evacuation, particularly of Polish nationals."

Anywhere from 5,000 to 6,000 third-country citizens, including 29 Poles, still remain in the Gaza Strip, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

"The evacuation of Polish citizens from the Gaza Strip remains a priority for the Polish authorities," the statement said.

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7 when the Palestinian militant group launched an attack from Gaza that killed over 1,400 people, according to British broadcaster BBC.
