President Andrzej Duda's office announced the meeting on the X social media platform.
Officials said the president would hold an "urgent meeting" with Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the chiefs of the Polish Army's General Staff and Operational Command at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, the defence minister said that "state agencies responded immediately" to the "appearance of an unidentified object in the Polish airspace."
Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as Poland's deputy prime minister, stated he was "in contact with the president, the prime minister, the Chief of the General Staff and the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces."
He added that "the state is working."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Polish Army's Operational Command said the "unidentified object" had flown into Polish airspace from the direction of Ukraine near the southeastern Polish city of Zamość.
Jacek Goryszewski told the private broadcaster TVN24 that the incident "may be linked" to Russia's massive air attack on Ukraine overnight into Friday.
He added army officials were establishing the circumstances of the incident and that the Armed Forces "have taken all steps" to safeguard Poland's airspace.
Earlier in the day, Polish Army's Operational Command said on social media that on Friday morning an "unidentified air object has flown into Polish airspace from the direction of the Ukraine border, and was monitored by air defences until its signal died down."
Russia on Friday morning fired 158 missiles against Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv, killing at least twelve people and injuring 76, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Russia also hit the western city of Lviv, killing one person and injuring nine, and struck a critical infrastructure facility in the Lviv region which borders Poland, according to officials.
Friday is day 667 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
