These upcoming deals will prioritize continuing programs for air and missile defense systems, armored and missile artillery, as well as "enhancements to the Air Force and Navy capabilities," Bejda told parliament on Thursday.

"The main effort is focused on acquiring military equipment that meets the requirements of the modern battlefield," he stated.

In an effort to bolster the Polish defense industry, at least 50 percent of the spending on armaments and the modernization of the army will be directed to domestic defense plants, he added.

He detailed some of the contracts already concluded, including purchases of early detection radars, special chassis for multi-launcher rocket systems, artillery ammunition, and command vehicles for M1A2 Abrams tanks, among other weaponry, with future acquisitions set to be shaped by an audit designed to evaluate and enhance the military equipment acquisition system.

Looking ahead to 2024, Poland plans to procure AH64 Apache attack helicopters, modern radar systems, and more tanks and rocket launchers. Additionally, there will be a focus on modernizing F-16 aircraft and soldiers' personal equipment.

Given the importance of air defense in light of the Ukrainian conflict, Poland is actively working on enhancing its capabilities in this area, Bejda told lawmakers.

"We are at the beginning of building this system," he said, highlighting recent improvements in early warning and alert systems and efforts to strengthen allied air defense presence in Poland, state news agency PAP reported.
