The document, signed by members of the Left, KO, Polska2050-TD, and a PSL-TD representative, was submitted to the Sejm during its last session before the summer break on Friday.
Marcelina Zawisza from the Left expressed disappointment that Prime Minister Donald Tusk did not exert more pressure on coalition partners to include abortion law liberalization in the coalition agreement, which could have facilitated the passage of the criminal code amendments.
Conversely, Urszula Pasławska from PSL is skeptical about resubmitting the decriminalization bill, believing it lacks chances of success in its current form.
The previous abortion decriminalization bill was rejected by the chamber on July 12, with 215 deputies voting in favor, 218 against, and 2 abstaining.
Opponents included members of Law and Justice, Confederation, and PSL, with 24 PSL deputies voting against and only 4 PSL women supporting the bill, while three deputies from the Civic Coalition did not participate in the vote.
