Formed in May 2024, the commission is tasked with assessing the impact of Russian and Belarusian influence on Poland from 2004 to 2024 through thematic teams in security, foreign policy, and the economy, while working discreetly without media involvement and including specialists from key ministries to identify and analyze these threats.

Prime Minister Tusk has assured that the commission's goal is not to target political opponents, and its proceedings will be carried out discreetly.

The commission can access information from state security agencies like the Internal Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency, with its findings potentially leading to recommendations for the prosecution and reviews of previous oversights.

On Wednesday, Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak highlighted on Polish Radio that the commission investigating Russian influence has been working diligently for the past two months, with Prime Minister Tusk set to be the first to see its report.

Siemoniak emphasized that the commission’s purpose is to impartially assess Russian influence rather than to target political adversaries.

Siemoniak also addressed the issue of Andrzej Poczobut's release, stating that Poland is doing everything possible to secure his freedom, though the details of these efforts remain confidential. He criticized PiS politicians for their reaction to the prisoner exchange, highlighting that they themselves have done nothing to help Poczobut.
