The General Command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed on Friday that during allied firing exercises involving Romanian soldiers at the Bemowo Piskie range in the Orzysz training area, ricochets caused damage to a nearby building. "No one was injured," they stated.

The Military Police are currently investigating the matter. It was also assured that all damages will be compensated as quickly as possible.

The Polish military had been conducting previously scheduled night exercises together with Romanian soldiers.

For several days, it had been announced that unauthorized persons were prohibited from entering the Orzysz training area in northeastern Poland.

Information was posted on social media indicating that live ammunition would be used in the training areas. There were also warnings about explosives.

According to TVN24, citing a comment from Captain Małgorzata Misiukiewicz, the press officer of the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade, during live-fire exercises on the training ground, a round from the Romanian unit struck a residential building.

It is known that no one was injured, but it cannot currently be confirmed whether people were inside the building at the time of the incident.

Bemowo Piskie, situated in northeastern Poland, hosts a military training center that manages exercises at the nearby Orzysz area and is also the base for a NATO battlegroup with troops from Romania, Croatia, the UK, and the US.
